Everest Transportation rolls out 550+ Grizzly Tab tablets in 4 phases

Everest Transportation moved its Canadian and U.S. fleets to Samsara on a single rugged, locked-down tablet, deploying in four phases on its own schedule while keeping drivers compliant through every step of the switch.

The Challenge

A fleet-wide ELD switch with no in-cab hardware to run it

Everest Transportation Inc. is a Bolton, Ontario carrier running expedited and dedicated truckload freight across North America, with a U.S. operation in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 2026, Everest moved its electronic logging to Samsara to give drivers and dispatch a modern, connected platform.

The switch created an immediate hardware gap. Hundreds of trucks across multiple operating companies needed a reliable in-cab tablet, and an unmanaged consumer device was not an option: open tablets distract drivers, break in the cab, and can burn through the vehicle's data allowance with a single app update. Everest needed one partner who could equip every truck, on both sides of the border, without slowing down the rollout.

We weren't going to piece together tablets, mounts, chargers, and software from five different vendors for 550 trucks. We wanted one partner who could own the whole cab, and Grizzly Tab delivered.

The Solution

One rugged, locked-down tablet standard for every cab

With Grizzly Tab, Everest replaced a patchwork of hardware decisions with a single, fully managed standard: the Grizzly Tab Q9 rugged tablet, a charging dock, and Grizzly Tab MDM, all for one predictable monthly cost per truck. Every device arrives ready to install and runs only the apps Everest's drivers need, so the fleet gets the full value of Samsara without the risk of an open tablet.

Rugged Tablets

Four phases, each live in days

Everest rolled out 550+ Grizzly Tab Q9 tablets in four phases, timed to its own fleet schedule across Canada and the U.S. The first two phases put 330 trucks on the new standard in just two weeks, and each later phase was in drivers' hands within days of the order, with zero trucks taken out of service along the way. Built for the cab, the Q9 operates from -30 °C to 70 °C, so drivers stay on the road through Canadian winters and summer heat alike.

“Every time we were ready for the next group of trucks, Grizzly Tab was already ready for us. We set the pace, and they never once held up a phase.”

Flexible Financing

One predictable monthly cost per truck

Instead of a large upfront hardware purchase, Everest equips every truck for one fixed monthly cost per tablet, covering the device, dock, and MDM licence. That meant zero upfront capital for a 550+ truck rollout and a single bill across every operating company in Canada and the U.S., so finance can budget the program as easily as dispatch can run it.

“Equipping 550+ trucks could have been a major capital decision. With Grizzly Tab it became one simple line item, and we kept our cash working in the business.”

Grizzly Tab MDM

Pre-configured tablets that made every install plug-and-play

Every Grizzly Tab Q9 arrived ready to drive, already set up with Everest's apps and security settings, so installers simply mounted the tablet, powered it on, and moved to the next truck. With no device-by-device setup, installs took 10 minutes per truck, and when new trucks came online, Grizzly Tab had 100+ tablets ready to deploy in under 4 hours, with installs starting the next morning.

Once on the road, every tablet stays 100% locked to approved apps, keeping drivers focused on the Samsara Driver App. Controlled updates protect the vehicle's hotspot allowance, while remote lock, reset, and location give the safety team full visibility of every device from one console.

“The tablets showed up ready to go. Our team just mounted them and turned them on, and everything except Samsara was already locked down. That's what let us move so fast, and we never worry about the logbook running out of data.”
